Getting out of your comfort zone won’t kill you!

Everyone has hopes, dreams, desires… or even fantasies they write in their bucket list.

We all imagine from time to time a better life for ourselves… or imagine a better version of ourselves doing greater things.  This is actually common behavior, yet unfortunately, it is also common behavior to sit back and let years pass without pursuing any of our hopes, dreams, desires… or the first thing on our bucket list.

Why is that?

Now some would say fear, laziness, and a lot of procrastination, and to some extent this is true, but the main reason none of us reach our better version of ourselves is because…

WE’RE NOT WILLING TO COME OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONES!

“You mean to take this class… I have to give up my shows every night?”

“So I gotta give up fast food?”

“To start this business… I have to miss some of my weekends?”

“It’s gonna take how many years to finish?”

More often than not… we don’t fear turning our hopes into reality.  We’re not that lazy in pursuing our hopes and dreams, and we don’t intend to procrastinate when we have to check off that bucket list.

Nevertheless… the first thought of not being able to do what makes us comfortable terrifies us!

The good news is… our comfort zone once began as a hobby years ago, and uncomfortable as it may feel to get out there and start a new hobby, at some point it will become your new comfort zone.

Remember as a child when a toy was taken away from us?  We thought we were going to die!  Yet when we grew older we realized it was for our own good.  Well… in order to become the better version of ourselves, and live the better life for ourselves, there are some things that need to be taken out of our lives…

BECAUSE GETTING OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE WON’T KILL US…

BUT IT WILL GIVE US NEW LIFE!

In the Land of Opportunity… are you taking any?

As much as people love to complain about ‘what’s wrong with this’ and ‘what’s wrong with that’ concerning America… I don’t see anyone packing to leave this country.

I’ll tell you what I do see…

I see everyone else in every other country risking everything to come over here by plane or boat.

Why is that?

BECAUSE THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY IS NOT JUST A SLOGAN…

AND EVERY FOREIGNER KNOWS IT!

In fact, everyone in the world seems to know it… except American citizens.

Every city has multiple libraries, every state has colleges and universities, and everywhere you turn there are seminars, trade shows, and online education.

THERE IS OPPORTUNITY EVERYWHERE WE TURN!

Do we recognize them… or choose to ignore them?

Ask yourself…

AM I TAKING ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY PRESENTED TO ME?

If you’re playing games everyday… YOU’RE NOT!

If you’re talking on the phone everyday… YOU’RE NOT!

If you’re on social media having fun instead of education or business… YOU’RE NOT!

If you’re constantly driving past the library to go to the club or bars… YOU’RE NOT!

If you’re spending your nights hanging out and not in night school… YOU’RE NOT!

If you’re reading silly post on social media and haven’t read a book… YOU’RE NOT!

DO YOU KNOW WHO ARE DOING ALL THESE THINGS…

EVERYONE WHO IS RISKING EVERYTHING TO COME OVER TO THIS

LAND OF OPPORTUNITY!

3 Mistakes We Make When We’re Unemployed!

We’ve all been there…

Whether we’ve been laid-off, fired, or we’ve told our bosses we quit.  We’ve all tasted the better pill of unemployment.

More often than not… most of us aren’t prepared when unemployment puts a halt to making a living.  This causes many of us to panic, fall into depression, and make bad decisions.

Now there’s no blueprint on how to respond in the face of financial obstacles.  For everyone who has been unemployed, the quick solution is to find employment as quick as possible.

It may only take weeks, or a number of months, but everyone facing unemployment searches for new opportunities their own way… unfortunately, not every way is the best way.

HERE ARE 3 MISTAKES WE MAKE WHEN WE’RE UNEMPLOYED

1. FINDING A NEW JOB IS NOT A FULL-TIME JOB!

My uncle used to always say, “A poor man has no leisure time,” and when you’re unemployed… every day not working is the fast track to poverty.  When we’re unemployed, we usually tend to hold on to our social activities as if we were still employed…wasting valuable time.  Putting in a couple of applications a day will keep you unemployed longer.  If you were working eight hours a day, then you need to search for new jobs eight hours a day… if not more.

2. BEING TOO PROUD TO WORK

In the midst of the recession in 2008… I was blessed to have a conversation with a millionaire.  During our talk, he shared with me something that surprised me… and I’ll never forget.  He shared that he would never go broke, because he would flip burgers to keep food on his table until he saved enough to start a new business.  There are those who are unemployed, that will remain in that situation because they will turn their noses up at jobs they are over qualified for.  It’s wiser to humble yourself to survive… than to bankrupt yourself waiting on a title.

3. BAD TALKING YOUR PREVIOUS EMPLOYER

I believe we’ve all made this mistake.  It’s one thing to bad mouth the previous employer who fired you, or laid you off… it’s another to bad mouth that employer on a job interview.  Now I know it’s extremely difficult to hold that animosity inside when you’re asked, “Can you share your experience with your previous employer?”… but there is a lesson I learned.  When you’re in an interview, the person interviewing you will ask you that very question… just to see what type of character you have.  If they see you were fired, or laid-off… they want to see if you will take ownership, or throw the blame on your previous employer by bad mouthing them. Trust me… no matter what went down, take the high road.

YOU’RE NOT DEAD YET!

First… if you’re reading this, thank you!

Second… if you’re reading this, YOU’RE STILL ALIVE, and there is a reason why you’re still breathing… because you have a lot more to do!

Many people allow life to beat them down to the point where they’re living as if they’re already dead.  They’ve given up on their dreams.  They’ve stopped doing the things they enjoy.  They only do what needs to be done to ‘get-by.’  They simply give-up on life!

Is that you?

The main reason people ‘give-up’ on life… is because they believe it’s too late!  There’s a common mentality that if we haven’t accomplished anything by our thirties… then we’ve somehow missed the boat.  As a result… we spend the remainder of our lives in cruise control.

Know this… there are countless examples of people throughout history who have accomplished extraordinary success beyond their thirties!

If you’re reading this…

YOU’RE STILL HERE!

So what are you going to do about it?

Five years from now, will you enjoy a renewed lease on life from reading this today, or will you still live life like you’re dead… wishing you had followed this advice five years ago?

I’m here to tell you… you’re still here for a reason.

I’m here to show you… you have a lifetime of living left.

I’M HERE TO PROVE TO YOU… IT’S NOT OVER FOR YOU!

Don’t blame it on ‘LIFE’

When people who are depressed begin to open up about their lives… they tend to take a trip down memory lane.  If you pay attention long enough… you will find there was a missed opportunity, a mistake, or a bad judgement that stemmed from youth.

Now if they’ve come to terms with their depression, you’ll hear them take ownership.

If not…

THEN THEIR DEPRESSION IS NOT THEIR FAULT!

Now the majority of people walking around would love to have a time machine… to make right all the wrongs of yesteryear.  Honestly, I would do the same given the opportunity, but this is reality… and in the real world we must live from what we give.

There’s a saying that “You cannot change the cards you are dealt,”  but I believe there’s more to it than that.

More often times…

WE ARE LIVING WITH THE HAND WE’VE DEALT OURSELVES!

We are so quick to blame LIFE on our failures, short comings, disappointments, and heartbreaks.

Yes… Life can be hard!

Yes… Life will knock you down!

Yes… Life at times is unfair!

But ask yourself one question:

HAVE YOU HAD MORE ‘GOOD DAYS’ OR ‘BAD DAYS’ IN YOUR LIFETIME?

I’ve enjoyed far more good days than bad… and I’m willing to bet it’s the same for the vast majority.  If you’ve allowed a few bad days to overthrow a lifetime of good ones… it’s not LIFE’S fault you’re depressed… IT’S YOURS!

Why do you think the good days far outweigh the bad days?  The reason is for us to use those good days to correct, overcome, and get passed those few bad days.  Blaming life for something that happened years ago only proves that you’ve wasted countless good days… days you could have used to pick yourself up and improve.

SO THE NEXT TIME YOU FEEL LIKE THROWING BLAME BY SAYING…

“THAT’S LIFE!”

LOOK IN THE MIRROR… BECAUSE

‘THAT’S YOU!’

3 Ways to Spark Immediate Change

For anyone who has tried to change… you know how difficult it is!

You have an idea, vision, or image of the person you want to evolve into, and you’ve made up your mind that you are going to become this person, but there’s one problem… habits are so hard to break!

Truth is… the reason why so many of us are disappointed with our lives, is because we have a clear idea of the person we want to become, but don’t have an idea of how to become that person.

Easier said than done right?  That’s because change is an absolute struggle, and it takes the commitment of failing and trying again repeatedly.  Therefore… here are 3 ways to help you begin the process of changing, and continuing on the right track.

CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT

This is #1 for a reason.  Now you can do a thousand and one things to change yourself, but if you’re waking-up everyday to the same environment… you’re constantly being tempted back into your old habits.  Before you realize it, you’re slowly being pulled back into the old you.  A new positive environment will introduce you to new positive daily habits.

DEVELOP NEW ROUTINES

Much of who we are… is solely based off our routines.  Our routines are tempting and addictive, because the more we follow them… the less decision-making we have to do.  A new routine will automatically get our brain cells working again, and increase our sense of awareness… which will spark fresh ideas.

GET LONELY!

That’s correct… Get Lonely!  It’s difficult to change.  It’s even more difficult when we have the same disruptions cluttering our minds day-after-day.  People want to change without full knowledge of what types of change they need.  It’s always best to find someplace to be alone.  By simply clearing your mind and thinking… you’ll be amazed at how your mindset changes.

It’s never going to work out… without work!

It’s funny how experts always try to figure out who will be successful… and who may not.

Financial Analyst crunch numbers to forecast which industries will be successful.  Sport’s Analyst compare physical attributes to rank which prospects will have the best career.  Colleges estimate test scores and G.P.A.’s (Grade Point Averages) to determine which seniors will be accepted into their institutions.

Now all those factors are great predictors, however, all of these ‘experts’ are merely making ‘educated guesses’ off of a work called Potential!

The truth is… a company can boast great numbers, an athlete can put-up great numbers, and a student can earn great numbers, but it won’t amount to anything without work.

Anyone can come out the gate with great numbers, but it’s never going to work out in the long run… without a lasting work ethic!

This same principle applies to our lives.

How many times have we seen a person with intelligence, not live up to their potential?

How many times have we seen an athlete blessed with amazing gifts, not live up to their potential?

How many times have we seen a smart kid in school, fail to live up to everyone’s expectations.

Remember…

THE SMARTEST, THE MOST TALENTED, AND THE MOST GIFTED…

WILL ALL END UP WORKING FOR THE HARDEST WORKER!

A good work ethic will bring your intelligence, your talents, and your gifts to the light for all to remember.  Without work… people will have to remember when you last showed potential.

SO IF YOU WANT YOUR TALENTS TO WORK FOR YOU…

IT’S NEVER GOING TO WORK OUT… WITHOUT WORK!
