When people who are depressed begin to open up about their lives… they tend to take a trip down memory lane. If you pay attention long enough… you will find there was a missed opportunity, a mistake, or a bad judgement that stemmed from youth.
Now if they’ve come to terms with their depression, you’ll hear them take ownership.
THEN THEIR DEPRESSION IS NOT THEIR FAULT!
Now the majority of people walking around would love to have a time machine… to make right all the wrongs of yesteryear. Honestly, I would do the same given the opportunity, but this is reality… and in the real world we must live from what we give.
There’s a saying that “You cannot change the cards you are dealt,” but I believe there’s more to it than that.
More often times…
WE ARE LIVING WITH THE HAND WE’VE DEALT OURSELVES!
We are so quick to blame LIFE on our failures, short comings, disappointments, and heartbreaks.
Yes… Life can be hard!
Yes… Life will knock you down!
Yes… Life at times is unfair!
But ask yourself one question:
HAVE YOU HAD MORE ‘GOOD DAYS’ OR ‘BAD DAYS’ IN YOUR LIFETIME?
I’ve enjoyed far more good days than bad… and I’m willing to bet it’s the same for the vast majority. If you’ve allowed a few bad days to overthrow a lifetime of good ones… it’s not LIFE’S fault you’re depressed… IT’S YOURS!
Why do you think the good days far outweigh the bad days? The reason is for us to use those good days to correct, overcome, and get passed those few bad days. Blaming life for something that happened years ago only proves that you’ve wasted countless good days… days you could have used to pick yourself up and improve.
SO THE NEXT TIME YOU FEEL LIKE THROWING BLAME BY SAYING…
LOOK IN THE MIRROR… BECAUSE
