SUCCESS NEVER HAPPENS THE FIRST TIME.

A track star is faster than the average person, but the track star didn’t possess that speed the first time he/she lined up to race.  An artist can create unique, beautiful images, but the artist didn’t have the same skills the first time he/she was moved to create.  A speaker has the ability to influence a crowd, but that speaker couldn’t put two sentences together the first time he/she spoke in public.

Remember when you tried something for the first time, perhaps you were nervous or even scared, but you tried it… and you were horrible?

What did you do afterwards?  Did you try again?  Were you glad the experience was over?  Were you too embarrassed to try again… or did you spend the rest of your life telling yourself “I’m not good at that?”

Well regardless of how you responded… know this one thing.

SUCCESS NEVER HAPPENS THE FIRST TIME!

The first time I spoke in public was in high school… and I could feel my hands shaking.  Today… people can’t get me to shut-up, because I get paid to speak!

The majority of people waste valuable time trying to find something they are ‘Good At,’ and while they have the correct philosophy… they carry the wrong approach.

The problem is… when people try something they like for the first time, they get discouraged because they’re not good at it, so they simply dismiss it in search for something else.

Ever heard someone say… “I’m not good at anything?”

What they’re really saying is, “I’m not good at anything, because I never took the time to work at anything.”  Very few people possess the patience to ‘work on their craft.’  This simply means being terrible at something, but putting in years of work until that terrible turns into good, and that good turns into great!”

So remember this…

THE FIRST TIME YOU ATTEMPT SOMETHING… YOU WILL NOT REAP GREAT RESULTS.  BUT THE MORE ATTEMPTS YOU MAKE… THE RESULTS YOU REAP WILL BECOME GREATER!
