10 OF THE BEST WAYS TO HELP PEOPLE…

In any relationship… you’re either improving the person’s life, or you’re ruining it.  In assuming that you have good intentions, here are…

10 OF THE BEST WAYS TO HELP PEOPLE…

1.  TELL THEM WHAT THEY ‘NEED’ TO HEAR

This can be difficult when it comes to loved ones, but telling people what they want to hear is just as damaging as lying to them.

2.  BE A FRIEND… DON’T BE A CRUTCH

It’s one thing to assist in times of need… it’s another to constantly enable someone when destructive behavior becomes a pattern.

3.  LISTEN, UNDERSTAND… BEFORE GIVING ADVICE

One of the best ways to make someone’s problem more complicated, is giving advice when you don’t fully understand their problem.

4.  BE THE EXAMPLE

In all relationships, someone’s influence will take the lead over the other… make sure your lead is a good example to follow.

5.  LEARN TO LEAD… AND FOLLOW

Don’t always play the dictator!  The best people know that there’s something to be learned from everyone.

6.  NEVER CONTRADICT

Even if you have the best advice, no one will listen to you… if they lose respect for you.  Always follow what you preach.

7.  DISCUSS STANDARDS

Too many common conversations lead to common lives!  Discuss topics that will both enlighten and improve your lives.

8.  DON’T GIVE ‘GRANDMOTHER’ ADVICE

Now I know that grandmother’s advice is priceless, but we shouldn’t give ‘cliches’ as advice to real life problems.  Give specific advice that applies to the specific problem.

9.  DON’T BE THE ‘GO ALONG’ PERSON

Don’t ever do something that you know is wrong with someone… for the sake of the friendship.  This does’t help you… or the friend.  Remember #4… BE THE EXAMPLE!

10.  LET THEM GO… IF NEED BE!!!

This is the greatest sacrifice you can make to help someone.  The truth is… some people can’t be reached, and we must separate ourselves in order for them to wake-up.
