I know… I know… it’s easier said than done.
How many times have we told ourselves… “I’m never gonna do that again.”
How many times have we told our friends… “I’m done with that mess.”
How many times have we promised God… “If you get me out of this… I promise I’ll change.”
AND LESS THAN A MONTH LATER…
WE’RE BACK TO DOING THE SAME THINGS THAT GOT US IN TROUBLE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Believe me! I’ve been there… DONE THAT!
Growing up, my mother told me that… ‘IT’S EASY TO BE BAD… BUT IT’S HARD TO BE GOOD!’ I remember thinking to myself, “How hard could it be?”… and I learned that lesson very quickly as an adult.
You see… most of us have this ‘image’ of the person we want to be. Unfortunately, the vast majority of us never live up to that ‘image!’
Why can’t we just wake-up tomorrow and do all the things the person we want to be would do? Because the truth is… becoming whatever we want to become is just a matter of CHOICES!
The reason people fail at being ‘all they can be’ is not because they struggle with making the right choices… it’s because they can’t stop making the wrong choices! We can’t become the people we want to be… because we can’t escape the people we don’t want to be.
PLAIN AND SIMPLE:
IF OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK… THEN BAD HABITS ARE BULLETPROOF!
But there are ways to avoid all of our bad habits. There are 3 things we can do to help us get away from our old ways… allowing us more free time to focus on new ways to become who we desire.
1. KEEP TELLING EVERYONE YOU’RE LETTING GO OF YOUR BAD HABITS.
Sounds irrational… but this places the ‘spotlight’ and ‘responsibility’ on yourself! This also places ‘all eyes on you’… and will get you started in the right direction. Reason being… you don’t want to be a hypocrite in front of friends and family.
2. AVOID PLACES THAT CAUSE BAD HABITS.
If you’re trying to stop drinking… meeting your friends at the bar and ordering a soda is not going to work. Remember, bad habits flourish in the wrong places. Temptation is too strong when it’s staring you right in the face… so stop letting it find you.
3. MAKE NEW HABITS!
Get yourself a new schedule… preferably a schedule that will lead you to becoming the person you want to be. A busy person has less time to fall back into old ways. Find out what it would take to become the new you… and fill up your free-time doing just that!
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO START BEING THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BE!
