At some point in everyone’s life…
a personal inventory will be taken. Sadly, these personal inventories only take place when life doesn’t turn out the way we’ve planned. During this process, we do what I like to call “Our Personal Interviews.”
We ask ourselves…
“Why am I still here?”
“Why didn’t I do the things I was supposed to do?”
“Why couldn’t I see things clearly back then?”
Throughout these questions, our blame is entirely directed towards us… and although we do hold sole responsibility for our actions and choices, we tend to overlook several aspects in our lives that could be holding us back!
There are 3 things that hold us back in life… and we never see them coming.
Our neighborhoods, communities, and even the regions we were raised in… have a deep influence on how we approach life. One’s economic surroundings also plays a huge role on their outlook on life. More times than not… we tend to adopt the same attitudes, opinions, work ethics, and decision-making that our surrounding communities have… good and bad. And after years of mimicking what we see, we ask ourselves… “Why am I still here?”
It’s well known that we become who we spend our most time with, but most of us never attempt to break away from friends and associates that we know are not adding any value to our lives. It’s loyalty to the wrong people that distracts us from recognizing the right people. We spend a lifetime involved in activities that ‘take us nowhere’ because we feel we have to be around our friends. And before we know it, we’re asking ourselves… “Why didn’t I do the things I was supposed to do?”
3. DAILY ROUTINES
Now this is the one that many fail to realize. This is for all the wishful ‘someday’ people, the people who repeat the same dead-end routines daily…. while waiting for their ‘ship to come in’ someday! Waiting for a lucky break, the lottery, or a hand-out… will only leave you waiting! But what we do everyday determines the outcomes of our lives… and we have absolute power and control over that! We spend our lives replicating daily routines that take us nowhere, without ever considering changing them, and we find ourselves at the end of our lives asking… “Why couldn’t I see things clearly back then?”
SO IF YOU FIND YOURSELF INVOLVED IN A ‘PERSONAL INTERVIEW’…
“WHAT’S REALLY HOLDING ME BACK?”
