There are so many things in life that provide us a sense of accomplishment, and if we were all honest with ourselves… we’d admit that we all need some level of accomplishment.
Whether it’s money, social status, family, title, or marriage… we all strive for some sort of validation through achievement.
You know that saying ‘You can’t take it with you when you die’… well that statement applies to most/if not all of the accomplishments we work for in life. But we don’t think about that, because life teaches us to push for the now… and not to worry about the hereafter.
The truth is: Most of our life questions are meant to serve our accomplishments now, but there are 3 questions we should ask ourselves that will serve our wants now, and will benefit society long after we’re gone.
1. WILL I BE A BETTER PERSON TOMORROW THAN I WAS YESTERDAY?
This should be the goal of all mankind, because the nature of all living things is to grow. Our way of life has shown continuous progress throughout time… and it should be no different concerning the individual person. Those who choose not to improve, educate, and enlighten themselves will soon become a detriment to society’s growth. As we get older, our life should bestow the wisdom that helps mankind improve… not decline.
2. WHERE IS MY LOVE BEING DIRECTED?
This sounds like a simple question, but far too many people simplify love with the relationship to another person… but God intended love to have a deeper impact on the world. Know this: Wherever your attention is directed, you will be successful at… because that’s where you’re directing your love. This works both positively and negatively! So are you directing your love towards the good things in life… or is your love being directed towards the bad things in life? What’s important is that your answer effects the well-being of your life as well as others.
3. WHAT TYPE OF EXAMPLE AM I?
Remember this: Everyday, your actions influence someone else! Unfortunately, most people never realize this. Every time you leave your home, you’re a walking example to anyone who crosses your path. We never think of the small things we do everyday as being significant, but the daily actions that people take over the years has caused society to form customs, rituals, laws, religions, holidays… not to mention family traits. So while it’s important to spend your days improving yourself through accomplishments… you”ll have a lasting effect in life improving society through your influence.
